A Nigerian man, identified as Emmanuel Emju, has shared a rather controversial take about polygamy that has sparked mixed reactions online.

Emmanuel, in a post shared via his Facebook page, stated that a man is a failure if he hasn’t considered taking a second wife after at least five years of being married to a woman.

According to him, it’s preposterous for a man to have never contemplated the idea of marrying a second wife.

He, however, clarified that he is not forcing men to choose polygamy but believes it is for the betterment of society if they marry more than one wife.”

His post reads,

“If you have been married to one lady for 5 years and you haven’t thought the needs to get a second wife, you are failing as a man.

No one is forcing you to marry more than one wife.. you are only being told what would be better for you and the society. Marry a second wife and stop following undergraduate girls here and there”
